Celebrating the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Recipient

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Annual KASD Education Foundation Reception, the Foundation recognized this year’s Distinguished Alumni recipient. The reception was held at Setter Ridge Vineyards, Kutztown and catered by the Kempton Kitchen. In addition to the Distinguished Alumnus’s family and friends, the reception was also attended by KASD Administration, School Board and Education Foundation Board Members, and numerous donors.

Distinguished Alumnus, Jonathan Bond, Class of 1974, addressed the group, discussing how his experiences in Kutztown and Kempton helped to shape him for future success. He reminisced about the influence of his childhood friendships and his early teachers, and he thanked his family and his friends for their many years of love and support.

Jon also provided the commencement address at the KAHS graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 30, 2024. There, Jon told the graduates that he was sitting in their seats 50 years ago. He provided some life lessons and then unveiled a brand-new work of art dedicated to the class: a blank canvas that represents their future. Then he challenged the class to be the artists of their future and along the way to be bold, to be passionate, to work hard, to play hard, to seek beauty, to be honest and to be kind. He concluded by inviting them to see him in 50 years to show him their completed paintings.
